Rainbow Rice Sensory Play
Rainbow rice is a wonderful material for sensory play and it’s great for fine motor development too. We’ve been having a lot of rain for the past couple of days and there’s just something special about these little colored grains, that make even a dull cloudy day colorful and fun! 🙂
Materials:
- white rice
- zip plastic bag
- liquid food coloring
- shoe box
- plastic spoons, scooper and cups (optional)
Instructions:
All you need to do, is place the desired amount of rice into a zip bag, then add a few drops of liquid food coloring of your choice and a few sprinkles of water. The water helps spread the food coloring onto the rice.
Close the zip bag and shake it!
Repeat the process for every color, then just spread each batch out on a plate and let the rice dry. It should be ready for play in about an hour or so. You can place the rainbow rice in the sun, to dry it even quicker.
Place the rainbow rice into a shoe box, head outside and bring some plastic spoons, scoopers and cup along. You can also cover the floor with a plastic sheet or some fabric for an easy clean up after play. Enjoy! 🙂
Pin It for Later
