Homemade Moon Sand

moonsand_head2

Moon sand is not really sand, but holds its form really nicely (a lot like wet sand). It doesn’t dry out, no matter how long you leave it in the air.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Add 4 cups of white flour in a small shoe box and 3/4 cup of vegetable oil, then mix it all together.

If you want to make colored moon sand, just crush a little piece of sidewalk chalk (I put it in a plastic bag and just smashed it with a hard metal spoon). Then add the powder in the mixture and mix it together with fingers.

My daughter was really excited about the new play material, so we went outside, covered the floor with a plastic sheet and started to play.

Moon sand turned out to be a pretty amazing material for outside (probably even inside) play. Next time, we just have to try adding some sparkly glitter! 😉
