How the Halloween CVC Word Building Activity Works

This Halloween CVC phonics activity turns word building into an interactive game.

First, students choose one of the witch-themed activity mats and select a spellbook card. Each spellbook features a picture representing a CVC word.

Students place the spellbook in the marked space on the mat and then search through the potion ingredient cards to find the letters they need.

Once they have collected the correct letters, students place the potion ingredients in the correct order to build the pictured CVC word.

With 24 different CVC words, students get plenty of opportunities to practice building and reading simple words.
