These Fruit & Vegetable Syllable Clip Cards are a fun way for pre-readers to practice identifying the number of syllables in words and also develop their fine motor skills!
Learning syllables in an important part of learning how to read, because it helps the kids break the word into chunks.
Your kids will pick a clip card and say the name of the fruit or vegetable on it. They can clap or stamp out the beats in words. They will listen for the number of syllables in the word and clip a clothespin on the number.
To make this activity self-correcting, you can write the correct answer onto the back of each card. Your kids can then flip them over to make sure they answered correctly.
This low prep activity includes 40 clip cards with cute fruit and vegetable themed pictures.
To prep, simply print out the cards. Print on cardstock for more durability. Cut out the cards. You can laminate them for even more durability. Have fun!
