Do you or your kids love to play with marbles? Or maybe solving mysterious mazes? What’s even more fun is a maze made especially for marbles!
I should probably warn you, building a maze like this might captivate even adults and before you know it, you could all end up playing with it. 😉
What you need:
- shoe box lid
- plastic straws
- liquid glue
- a marble
- tougher paper or cardboard in color of your choosing (optional)
- colorful sticky tapes for decoration (optional)
We started building our maze by gluing a green piece of paper to the bottom of the lid. This doesn’t have any function beyond decoration so it’s an optional step. Then my daughter cut the straws into smaller pieces while I glued them to the surface.
I started on one end and then gradually moved to the other end. I made up the layout of the maze as I went along. The process of coming up with a suitable maze layout is quite fun I must admit.
Once the glue dried, we used colorful sticky tapes to decorate the box. The red tape represents the “start” of the maze. Before we started decorating, I cut a little hole on the other end of the maze, through which the ball will “escape” when it reaches the end of the maze.
When you play the game, try to get the ball through the maze by slightly tilting the box.
Participants in our game included grandmas and grandpas and just about anyone who came over to visit. It’s really nice to see how one game can connect different generations in one common activity. We played against each other and measured the time it took each one of us to bring the ball through the maze.
I hope you will enjoy this game as much as we do!
